FilmGood Friday

FilmGood Fridays, an initiative from WalkGood LA’s FilmGood organization and festival dedicated to celebrating independent and underrepresented filmmakers, creators, and artists of color, is thrilled to announce the launch of its very first repertory screening program, themed "Quarter Century Series: A Celebration of Cult Classics from the ‘99 and the 2000," on Friday, June 20, 2025 at The WalkGood Yard. This special season opener, held in honor of Pride Month, will feature a rare screening of Patrik-Ian Polk's groundbreaking 2000 romantic comedy, Punks, with support from Tall Skinny Black Boy Productions providing this rare print of the film.

Punks, which premiered to critical acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival, offers a vibrant and authentic portrayal of Black gay men navigating the dating world during the new millennium in Los Angeles. The film, starring Seth Gilliam, Dwight Ewell, and the iconic Jazzmun as a drag diva, has been largely unavailable for decades, making this screening a unique opportunity for audiences to experience its enduring charm and cultural significance on the big screen.

There will be a post-screening Q&A and virtual DJ mixer to cap the experience.
